"Our clipper can last for years again."

Read how Douwe Steenland had a repair done to a mainsail, and ordered a new genoa.

Living on a ship requires continuous maintenance

Douwe lives with his family (2 children) on a beautiful clipper. Living on board makes you even more aware of the condition of your ship and the maintenance that needs to be done. That can quickly become quite expensive with classic sailing ships. Douwe noticed that the seams of his mainsail were wearing out and the genoa was not in great shape either.

Talking about possibilities

Douwe has been visiting us for years, and this time he also called to make an appointment on board. Together we checked the condition of the sails and came to the conclusion that a new genoa was really needed. We could still repair the mainsail and it would last at least another two years.

Why Sailmaker De Vries Marine

We were actually curious as to why Douwe has been a customer of ours for so many years, so we asked him point-blank. "Of course, the nice contact and good advice. But what is most important to me is that I know you have years of knowledge and experience, and that you work for ships of the Dutch Navy and Bark Europa. Such ships demand the best quality, and that feels good".

Fast delivery

Because Douwe is a very active sailor, we planned the repair of the mainsail in such a way that it caused him minimal inconvenience. Together we looked for a suitable moment. Sometimes it takes some searching, because our diaries are also very busy. But we found a perfect moment and Douwe was back on the water in no time!
