Apprentice Sailmaker / Tentmaker – Measuring & Assembly
Are you handy, do you have a knack for technical things, and would you like to learn a real trade? If so, we’d love to meet you.
We are looking for someone who is skilled in the field of sailmaker / tentmaker wants to learn, with a focus on measuring and installing boat covers and tents.
Experience as a sailmaker is not required. We believe it’s more important that you’re handy, work with precision, and enjoy learning new things.
What will you do?
We manufacture sprayhoods, cockpit covers, biminis, winter covers, and other custom-made products for water sports.
You’ll work alongside an experienced colleague to measure headliners and tents, assess existing setups, and fit and install new products.
No two boats are alike. You'll learn how to come up with a good solution, how to take accurate measurements, and how to ensure that a cover or tent fits properly in the end.
Among other tools, we use a Proliner and a 3D scanner. You’ll also learn how projects are prepared and produced in our sail-making workshop, so you can gain a full understanding of the entire process.
As you gain more experience, you'll be able to work more and more independently.
What are we looking for?
Above all, technical insight, manual dexterity, and the desire to learn the trade.
You don't need any experience with sailing or boat covers. Perhaps you've worked in engineering, assembly, woodworking, or another hands-on profession. Or maybe you're just very handy and are looking for a field where you can continue to develop your skills.
You enjoy working with your hands, think in terms of solutions, and have an eye for detail.
You enjoy working with colleagues, but you also appreciate being able to work independently in the end.
