Experienced Sailmaker / Tent Maker – Measurement & Assembly
Lemmer | full-time, part-time, or freelance collaboration
Are you an experienced sailmaker or tentmaker who takes pride in a canopy that looks truly great once it’s installed? If so, we’d love to meet you!
For our sailmaking shop, we are looking for a skilled craftsman or craftswoman who can take measurements and assemble sails independently. Someone with technical expertise, a knack for custom work, and an eye for detail.
We manufacture sprayhoods, cockpit covers, biminis, winter covers, and other custom-made products for water sports. No two boats are alike, and that’s exactly what makes our work so varied.
What will you do?
You'll work independently to measure new canopies and tents, assess existing setups, and install products.
On site, you’ll assess the best technical solution, consult with the customer, and ensure that your colleagues in the sail-making shop know exactly what needs to be made. After production, you’ll handle the fitting and installation to ensure that everything fits properly and functions correctly.
We combine traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques. We use tools such as a Proliner and a 3D scanner, but we also offer the tried-and-true method of measuring with templates. We focus on what works best for each project.
Haven't worked with digital measuring equipment yet, but are you an expert in the field? No problem—we can teach you.
What are we looking for?
Above all, someone with experience, technical insight, and a passion for the field.
You know how a good canopy or tent should fit, can take measurements on your own, and can tell during assembly what’s needed to achieve a great final result.
You can make decisions on your own, think in terms of solutions, and enjoy taking responsibility for your own projects.
Can you also make adjustments yourself on the sewing machine or create a complete product? That’s a nice bonus, but it’s not the most important thing for this position.
Careers at De Vries Maritiem
De Vries Maritiem is a sailmaker in Lemmer with a team of about 20 employees. We work on a wide variety of projects in the water sports industry: from a new sprayhood for a smaller sailing yacht to complete custom work for large motor and sailing yachts.
We have modern equipment, such as a Proliner, a 3D scanner, and a Zünd cutting table. But ultimately, what matters most to us is craftsmanship: observing carefully, thinking logically, and working neatly.
You’ll be joining a down-to-earth and enthusiastic team where everyone takes personal responsibility. You’ll have a lot of freedom to do your job, but you can always rely on your colleagues’ knowledge and experience. Above all, we want to work together to deliver great results that we can be proud of.
In addition to work, there’s room for humor and camaraderie. We believe it’s important that you enjoy coming to work, can contribute ideas, and have opportunities for personal growth.
We prefer full-time, but part-time is certainly negotiable. We’ll tailor your salary and benefits to your experience and level of independence.
