Departor Sander thanks his colleagues
Two years ago I came into contact with De Vries Maritiem because I was looking for new sails for our Koopmans 44. I was looking for a sailmaker who would think along with us, with a view to our trip around the world. After a few conversations with Johan Schuurman it was clear to me that I had found my sailmaker. They spoke with so much passion and knowledge that I had never experienced before. Our Blue Beryl was soon equipped with a beautiful set of new sails.
But it didn't stop there. The contact and partnership between De Vries Maritiem and our campaign with the Blue Beryl was experienced as very pleasant on both sides. Before I knew it, I was appointed Sales & Marketing Manager. I ended up in a close-knit team. The goal was to take the organization to the next level in two years. We worked hard on digitalization, work processes, marketing, website and the customer journey. Together we shaped objectives and made a plan for the future. Core values were developed: 'Product focus', 'Healthy future', 'Pride' and 'Renewed craftsmanship'. Everyone at De Vries Maritiem could identify with these values and they will therefore remain at the core of our operational management for the coming years. The combination of working with the latest technologies and the craftsmanship that is practiced every day on the work floor is a wonderful combination.
The plan of Yvette and myself is to sail the world seas in the next 3 to 4 years. I will remain remotely involved with marketing and sales. In addition, we will set up a sailing workshop through which De Vries Maritiem will also be active in other countries. Blue Beryl Sailmakers "Powered by De Vries Maritiem" sounds good right?
Through this open letter, I want to thank my colleagues who were there for me and who cursed me at times. We had a great time where we made insane changes. This does not happen without a struggle. I am proud that we are doing so incredibly well partly because of these changes. 2020 may well be the best year in the last 20 years.
