High Aspect Flock
The High Aspect Jib is primarily intended for upwind sailing. This is because the sail is high and slender, with the foretriangle filling completely. This means maximum luff length and width slightly past the mast. Thanks to the High Aspect Jib, it is possible to sail with a larger spectrum of wind force without losing speed or control. Therefore, this sail is widely used by the latest generation of sailing vessels. For example, by ships that participate in the Volvo Ocean Race.
Unique features
Characteristic features of these special breeding are, sewn-in battens in the backward and extra heavy duty reinforcements. The High Aspect Jib is manufactured to the same high standards as the other jibs and genoa's from Sailmaker de Vries Maritiem.
Some of the benefits of the High Aspect Jib at a glance:
- Sailing higher to the wind
- Unsteady sailing with higher wind strengths
- No loss of speed or control
A High Aspect Jib can be fastened with levers or lufftape. The difference between a High Aspect Jib on leathers and a roller reefed headsail is the difference in cloth weight. A roller furling headsail is in principle also used in stronger winds (in reefed condition), a standard large genoa on leathers will therefore be made of a lighter type of cloth than a standard large roller furling genoa. Because the drum of a furling jib system well above the deck there is a small loss in surface area at the bottom of the sail.
Optional :
