Our sail making shop supplies all types of sails for sailboats. We sail ourselves, so we know exactly how important a good sail is, what the different options are and what to take into account. We have been making 200 years of sailing, and we will lovingly make a new headsail for your sailboat.
What is a headsail?
Headsails are the engine of a sailing yacht. A fok, genoa, jib or cutter jib is very decisive for the speed of your ship.
A headsail is attached to the forestay of a sailing yacht. The shape and size are very different which can influence the sailing behavior of the boat.
Furling headsail
It increases the pleasure of sailing when sails are easy to refen so that you can sail safely in light to heavy conditions.
We offer different reefing options for the different types of headsails, with the biggest choice being staysails or a roller reefing system for your vessel. If you need a roller reefing system has it is good to know what brand and type are currently on your ship. Then we will advise on the cut of the sail and will start making choices in the canvas or laminate and the possible options.
Triangular or triangular headsail
The possibilities for a headsail, pok called triangular or triangular sail, are endless. We have written several pages on different types of sails.
A genoa should be used especially for the touring sailor can be used as all-round as possible so that you do not have to perform sail changes on the foredeck in poor conditions.
For one ship a smaller headsail is desired, for another a larger surface is necessary to generate sufficient propulsion power. In addition, we are dependent on the length and location of the genoa rail which is mounted on your ship. This determines the maximum and minimum luff length of the headsail.
