UV radiation
What many people do not know is that UV radiation can do the most damage to canvas products and sails. The stitching thread of a spray hood and the canvas of a tarpaulin, for example, are subject to UV radiation. It therefore goes without saying that the canvas must be UV resistant. A furling jib cover or UV strips on a sail ensure that your sail is always protected against weather influences and UV radiation. Because the UV protection is permanently attached to the sail, the assembly of a separate cover is no longer necessary. This saves you a lot of time before and after sailing. For your spray hood, GORE™ TENARA® sewing thread is the answer.
GORE™ TENARA® sewing thread
Even the strongest, most durable outdoor fabrics have weak points, the seams. This is because conventional sewing thread can wear out at the seam and break over time due to UV radiation, cleaning agents, dirt, salt, water, rain and snow. You can have your spray hood or convertible top stitched with Tenara sewing thread at De Vries Maritiem.
GORE™ TENARA® sewing thread is guaranteed to have the same life as the fabric. It maintains the strength of the stitching even under the harshest outdoor conditions. It does not degenerate, crack or break despite extreme weather conditions, temperatures or chemicals.
