sailing season, it's here! Summer is just around the corner and that means only one thing: the sailing season is in full swing! At Zeilmakerij De Vries Maritiem we can hardly wait to get out on the water and enjoy the freedom and adventures that sailing brings. We announce a new type of sailcloth, share tips for sailing destinations in the Netherlands and share another fun story about a sail being completed. Enjoy reading!

New type of sailcloth: Nautosphere voyager
We kick off the sailing season with a fun fact. Did you know that we recently started offering a new type of canvas? It's called "Nautosphere voyager." That sounds exciting! For those who want to know more about it, here is a brief summary:
The current Dacron cloth types are made of fibers that are woven. The spaces between the warp (vertical fibers) and weft (horizontal fibers) are filled by a coating. The harder the coating the more stable the sail becomes. However, a hard coating makes a sail vulnerable to breaking and makes a sail difficult to handle. Therefore, there is now a good alternative: Nautosphere voyager.
- Nautosphere Voyager is a woven fabric type, similar to Dacron.
- It consists largely of Dyneema, a strong and durable fiber. Dyneema has at least 10 times less stretch than polyester fibers.
- Dyneema is highly resistant to UV radiation and abrasion.
- Nautosphere Voyager guarantees minimal stretch, high stability in all directions while maintaining its flexibility.
Nautosphere Voyager is very suitable for ships up to 60 feet that want to sail the world's seas! Want to know more about this type of sail?

Featured completion: satisfied customer!
Recently we have uploaded a beautiful sail. The sail is a Hydra net tri-radial sail, weighing 433 gr/m2. With 2 reefs and 5 fully battened sections, this sail offers excellent performance while sailing.
In addition, the sail features a cunninghamhole (luff extension) and has an offshore finish. The use of trim steps in the color blue provides a clean finish. We are proud that we were able to deliver this product and make another customer happy.
