In the mid-70s' the first tubular hood was designed by A. Kelderhuis, employed by the firm M.F. de Vries. With this Sailmaking de Vries Maritiem the founder of this unmistakable component on virtually every sailboat, sloop or motorboat. The hood was developed to protect water sportsmen from wind and splashing water and still has the same function 50 years later.

We are proud to have been manufacturing tube hoods for 50 years and have become increasingly innovative and sustainable over the years. With our years of expertise and dedication, we continue to strive for the highest quality.

Canvas Maintenance

Hopefully we get to enjoy late summer for a while longer, but soon it will be time to winterize your boat and think about your canvas maintenance.

Our advice is to take them off board during the winter and keep them clean and dry. Check for any tears, loose seams or other damage and have them repaired.

The end of the season is fast approaching. Will you soon be preparing your boat for winter storage? Then that is a good time for a good wash of your canvas or sails. We impregnate canvas after a wash as standard so that it remains beautifully waterproof. 

For the best protection, we can apply a special coating to your sails. This makes your sails optimally resistant to all weather conditions and dirt.

With a complete renovation, we also check the seams for any repairs.
