Jacqueline Evers is currently sailing her 8-meter Grinde Loveworkx solo around the world. After 15 months and 16000 nautical miles she arrived in New Zealand in September 2024. She has a deep passion for sailing that stems from her Frisian roots, as a young girl she started sailing, even worked for several years at Sailmaker de Vries Maritiem behind the counter and developed into an experienced skipper over the years.
In late 2020, she bought her Grinde and began preparing for her solo world trip. She took all kinds of courses and training and also made her first trips at sea. In 2022, she contacted De Vries Maritiem to add a sprayhood/back tent, a rain cover that can be zipped to the spray hood, a new sail cover, a water collection cover and a cover for over the dinghy.
The assignment
Jacqueline sought custom canvas items that would enhance both the functionality and aesthetics of her vessel. Together with De Vries Maritiem, she began discussing design, colors and materials.

Modern Techniques, Timeless Results
Although techniques have become more innovative and sustainable over the years, the dedication to the old craft at Sailmaker De Vries Maritiem remains unchanged. Today's sailmakers continue the tradition of craftsmanship and deliver results that exceed expectations. Jacqueline was very pleased with the digital display of all items before they were made.
Conclusion
For Jacqueline, it wasn't just about getting custom canvas items. For her, it was a tribute to the enduring tradition of craftsmanship and the quest for perfection. Collaboration, creativity and a shared passion for sailing were important aspects in the process from consultation to creation.
