Sails2

Sail maintenance

Properly maintained sails are crucial for optimal performance and longer life of your sailing equipment.

Here are some tips for maintaining your sails:

1. Clean your sails regularly:

  • Rinse your sails with fresh water after each sail to remove salt and debris
  • Use a soft brush to gently remove surface contaminants
  • In case of severe soiling, we can wash the sails for you
  • Let your sails dry completely before storing them.

2. Check for damage:

  • Thoroughly inspect your sails for tears, rips or wear
  • Have damage repaired immediately
  • Make sure that the sailsheet bag is in good condition and working smoothly.

3. Store your sails correctly:

  • If you store your sails for an extended period of time, make sure they are clean and dry.
  • Store them in a cool, dry place and avoid direct sunlight.
  • Fold or roll your sails properly to minimize creases.

cross cut and tri-radial cut sails

Did you know that we cut our sails 2 ways? We are happy to explain it to you so you know what suits your sailing style best in the future.

Cross-cut (for the touring sailor)
Cross-cut sails are at right angles to the leech. Lift some less heavy on performance? Then this type is perfect for you. Since a sail with a cross-cut cut contains fewer courses, they are comparatively more favorably priced.

Tri-radial (for the avid sailor)
Do you like to put a performance? Then a sail with a tri-radial cut is best.In a sail with a tri-radial cut, the courses are designed and stitched together so that the tensile forces on the sail from the corners are best distributed over the total area of the sail.
