Highlighted highlight: Expedition Greenland

Surely one of the highlights of 2022 was the rush order to Greenland. De Vries Maritiem received a call last spring asking if they could urgently make bright red sails. By going all out, they succeeded! Within 10 days the red sails were shining in fresh Greenland. The pictures of this trip were made to make visible that the area in Greenland is very vulnerable. Of course we are happy to share the result with you via the picture above!

Winter tips & tricks for more sailing fun

In winter, boat maintenance is important. When the season starts you can get right back on the water by having your boat in the perfect condition thanks to these tips. We share tips for maintaining canvas, such as tents and hoods.

  1. Cleaning canvas materials (light soiling): use lukewarm water and a soft brush. Do not use household soaps or green soap. Only use specialized shampoo from Ultramar. If you use this, always impregnate the canvas afterwards with an impregnating agent of the same brand.
  2. Cleaning canvas (heavier soiling): bring (or send) the dirty canvas materials to the tarp shop. We weigh the whole thing and then thoroughly wash and impregnate the parts. This extends the durability of the canvas materials.
  3. Window film: clean with lukewarm water and a lint-free, scratch-free cloth. Never use household soap, spirit, glassex, vinegar or similar agents. To increase the durability, we recommend cleaning the windows twice a year with lukewarm water and then treating them with Vuplex (blue spray can with orange cap). This preserves the protective layer which keeps the plasticizer in the film and keeps the windows clear much longer.
  4. Remove Canvas materials from the boat and store dry. Make sure windows do not buckle or make sharp creases
